Who Will You Report To?

Nanuk Warman, CMA is the senior partner and accounts manager at PubCo Reporting. He started the business back in 2002 with no clients, no staff, and today helps manage more than 467 publicly traded companies, many of which were cleared to trade from scratch under his guidance. He started off as a junior accountant at KPMG back in 1996, and has since worked his way up the ranks to become an OTC Preferred accounting and financial reporting expert for literally hundreds of over the counter issuers.

It was one thing to learn the art and science of financial reporting as a junior accountant starting out at KPMG...but nothing progressed his skills to the next level faster than the thrilling (and often humbling) experience of working hands-on by applying his skills in a marketplace where only the fittest survive.

That’s where you come in.
PubCo Reporting has grown its business to more than 457 clients with valuations that now total in the billions of dollars. But we’ve barely gotten started. In order to sustain growth, we need to add a senior accounting manager to our team who can deliver quality under pressure, is driven to succeed, and loves being surrounded by like minded experts, who are also thrilled to share their experience and knowledge with colleagues.

What is the Ideal Candidate’s Background?

The ideal candidate is a professionally designated CPA with 2-4 years of public accounting experience—working with GAAP, IFRS, and SEC rules and regulations. Strong written and English-speaking skills are a must, but does not need to be perfect (problaby half of our staff are non-native English speakers). Preferably you have experience with Caseware, Quickbooks, and Simply, and you can work from our downtown, Vancouver, office at least 3 days a week – important so we’re all in the same rhythm, pace, and work together efficiently.

Obviously, if you have more than 4 years’ experience in public accounting, that is an asset. But if you are well-versed in GAAP, IFRS, SOX and SEC compliance, are a collaborative team player, and bring a strong set of analytical skills to the table...
We will be more than happy to spend the time it takes to get you in synch with how we work.

More importantly...you love to be involved in the dynamic and exciting world of public company accounting, take pride in a job well done, and enjoy a professional challenge that will push your skill-set to the next level...Working with an ace team of professionals and co-workers who sincerely care about your personal success in both business and life.

What’s it like working at PubCo?

We’ve gone to great lengths to set up a culture that supports innovation and success, especially for new team members. Moreover, we’re heavily focused on team collaboration in a highly supportive workplace – not only to help our co-workers do their jobs better – but to ensure that we provide the best possible service to our clients as well.

For example, you’ll be assigned to a team-cell that has a portfolio of clients it manages. Each cell is comprised of a senior accountant, accounts manager, and both a supervising bookkeeper. And everyone on the team marches to the beat of the same drum, focused on the same goal of helping our clients meet all of their financial reporting needs.

We are currently looking to staff our main office in Vancouver, but regardless of which office you’re assigned to, everyone benefits from the following:

-
A free flow of data – Access to live performance data for our clients in QuickBooks, including all templates, so you can instantly see how our bookkeeping and accounting processes work, and view all financial reporting done in real time.
-
Unlimited Access to Senior Management – We believe in relationship building, not just with our clients but, perhaps even more importantly, with our colleagues, staff, and co-workers.
-
Carreer Progression – Your success determines how fast you advance in the company...the business...and beyond...and will always in-line with your particular set of skills, talent, and fields of endeavor that interest you the most (your special set of ‘super powers’ we call it, that we hope to help you develop to the point where you can do it as good as, if not better, than anyone else).
-
Unlimited support – From a team of experienced accounting professionals. Access to a team of legal, compliance, tax, financial experts, and more.
As you can imagine, the opportunities are unlimited when it comes to choosing the areas of expertise you will choose to focus your talents on. And we’ve made it our mission to provide you with a working environment that will help you to continually advance your career and broaden your skill-set.

Not only will your co-workers be available to share their experience and guidance with you, but they will appreciate hearing your ideas on how they can do their jobs better too. Your input and ideas will always be respected, appreciated, and given thoughtful feedback that’s designed to lift everyone’s boat.

For us, there is nothing more satisfying than helping a colleague or a co-worker to advance their talents, while he or she helps us to advance our own...priceless.

What will you be responsible for?

Put simply, you will oversee your own cell of clients and lead a team of account managers, bookkeepers, and financial filing agents.
Some of the tasks will be quick and easy, and some will require supervision until your skill set is developed to the point where you’ve mastered it yourself.

As you settle-in and get comfortable with how we work, your responsibilities will include:

-
The preparation and review of client audits, financial statement review, and tax engagements.
-
Leading and supervising client engagement.
-
Ensure client financial reports adhere to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
-
Summarize the financial status of clients by gathering data, preparing the balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
-
Review third-party documents and notes in preparation for a client’s audit.
-
Vouch and assess relevance of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and prepaid expenses.
-
Collaborate with the engagement team prior to commencement of work for clients to discuss roles, responsibilities, risk areas, materiality, and deadlines.
-
Mentor junior team members, whether as part of a specific engagement team, or as a unique resource within the office.
-
Build effective working relationships with clients and, actively participate in business development with your team and co-workers.

How does compensation work?

Senior accounting managers who join PubCo Reporting go through a 3-6 month “launchpad” period wherein skills are assessed and your performance is measured to ensure there is a good fit.

During this time, compensation is set at a rate of between $8,000 and $10,000 a month, depending on your current experience and skill-set.
After that...

-
Your performance is reviewed within 6 months to make sure that you are adequately compensated.
-
As you help us to grow the business, your income will grow too.
