Kara James

Kara James is a graduate of the University of BC and a CPA, CA with over 20 years experience.  Kara’s career began in public practice with KPMG in 1998.  After leaving public practice most of her career was spent as a CFO for Sysco Canada, Food Service, Distributors & Wholesalers, the global leader in selling, marketing, and distributing food products to restaurants, healthcare, and educational facilities.  During her time at Sysco, Kara developed expertise in internal control development, evaluation and implementation, as well as various high level CFO responsibilities including strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow analysis, KPI development and implementation, business case analysis, expense management, and organizational restructuring.  Kara is passionate about people and using her experience and expertise to help small to medium sized entrepreneurial businesses elevate their performance and grow their bottom line. Kara is excited to bring her collaborative style, ability to listen without preconception, expertise in finance, and business savvy to Pubco Reporting Solutions.  Kara is not only passionate about people; she is also passionate about our planet.  In 2019 Kara lead Sysco Canada’s Waste Reduction campaign to divert 90% of operations and food waste from landfill.  As well, Kara is committed to giving back to her community.  She is the Vice President of Kelowna Women in Business and a business mentor for Entrepreneurship@UBC – Okanagan Campus.  In her leisure time, Kara enjoys spending time with her husband Jay, spoiling her 3 dogs, Brody, Brewster and Georgia and honing her skills as an amateur (very amateur) chef and mixologist.
